Sponsorship sales executives (or a business development manager as they are also known) play a critical role in supporting the advancement of the conferences and events. Their primary function is to connect with companies to position the projects and conduct a sophisticated value-led sales. So your primary objective is to sell sponsorship and digital packages to businesses.

 

You will normally have access to a database of well organised leads to generate business from but it is important to recognise events require new sponsors to grow, therefore new business development will always be a key requirement of the role.

 

Sponsorship sales executives work to personal and often team targets.

 

A typical working day

 

  • Conduct your own research, approaching cold leads, following up on strong leads and raising sponsorship capital for the event / portfolio.
  • You will likely be on the phone for at least two hours (outbound calls) a day, talking to companies in the UK and overseas.
  • You will pitch the opportunity to sponsor events to decision makers and influencers
  • You will write sales emails, briefs, proposals
  • Manage your own sales forecasting and reporting
  • Organise your plan for the day, week and month
  • Book and conduct meetings and presentations
  • Manage your own pipeline of sales
  • Updating and collaborating with your team
  • Keep the CRM accurately updated

 

Your background

 

  • Educated to degree level
  • B2B sales experience required gained from; recruitment, media, events, delegate, sponsorship sales or Tech sales etc
  • Evidence of continued personal development
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of insight and value-led sales
  • Proven track record of success
  • Excellent team player
  • Ability to articulate confidently over the phone and deliver a first-class customer experience.
  • Excellent communication skills – must have the ability to engage with C-suite and senior executives with pan-regional responsibility
