Six Top Tips to Attract & Retain Top Talent
Attracting, hiring and retaining the best talent is the goal of most B2B Events employers.
According to our Q1. 2024 candidate survey, here are 6 top tips to help your B2B events company stand out from the rest:
1. Professional Growth – provide structured training and development programs with defined and visible upward progression.
2. Resources – have enough of the right events professionals in post to deliver events projects and create a manageable pace of work. Provide training to support your event’s talent to do a great job in the time they have. Hire the right people into the right jobs to ensure work is manageable and tasks are successfully delivered.
3. Positive culture fostered by transparent, accountable and people-focused leadership. An environment that rewards and celebrates successes. Events companies are experts at creating opportunities for learning, celebration and reward therefore using these skills to develop a culture that values such an investment (money and time) is key.
4. Wellbeing – work-life balance through flexible working options, good holiday allowances, reasonable work expectations, access to mental and physical health support, and having someone to talk with when needed. B2B Events is a highly pressurised industry, focused on wellbeing of your conference producers, sponsorship sales, editors, event managers and event marketers is key to retaining your people.
5. Financial Rewards – Offer attractive & competitive packages that truly reflect the value of your people and their talent, hard work and commitment. Salary benchmarking in the b2b events industry has become very difficult in recent years; competition to hire the most in demand events professionals has driven salary levels to an all-time high. Over the past year, there has been more consistency in salary levels, particularly for Conference Producers and Event Managers.
6. Create a supportive culture (from the top down) and an environment where people can comfortably ask for help. Cross functional teams, working groups, social activities and meetings can help to facilitate support across events teams and difference offices.
