What does a Conference Producer do?

Conference producers are a vital part of the events industry, it’s a hugely responsible and varied job.

Conference producer responsibilities start at the beginning of the project, at the inception stage, through to concept, and running the event on the day.

The core tasks of a conference producer are:

·         Topic research

·         Agenda creation

·         Speaker recruitment

·         Project management of the event

·         Team work with colleagues in marketing, sales & ops

·         Attendance at the event on the day

Above is a brief list of what a conference producer does, it’s an incredibly varied and busy job which requires exceptional communication and organisation skills.

The main element of the conference producer job is research; they research the content which is to be selected for the event agenda ensuring they find the most engaging and commercially viable topics. They also need to research the market to identify and secure industry leading speakers to talk about the topics at the event. The research is a mix of desk and telephone based research and in-person on occasion.

A conference producer job is a commercially focused position, each event is run like its own profit making business.
